Older Babies and Toddlers

Congratulations! You have made it past the newborn phase, or even out of babyhood altogether. Things that seemed daunting at first are second nature to you now as you take bathtime in your stride and change nappies one handed. The problem is, every new stage brings it's own challenges.

You no longer worry about routine care but now you have to contend with a toddler who only ever eats jam sandwiches, spending hours getting your four year old to sleep each night or temper tantrums from your two year old. This stage can be all about troubleshooting! Read on to find out how I can help.

Ages and stages

Do you need some advice on weaning, potty training, starting school or even which toys to buy next? New stages can seem really daunting if you haven't been there before and you don't know where to start! If you have a few friends with little ones the same age I would be happy to come and run a workshop for a small group, or a private session just for you. In person workshops need to be in Suffolk, Essex or London and may have a travel charge but online options are also available. To discuss your needs and make a booking, please contact me here.

Alternatively, why not arrange a private 45 minute phone or Skype call with me, where we can go over your concerns and I can give you all the information you need? You'll feel so much more confident afterwards, ready for the next exciting development. These cost £50 and are easy to book, just click the button to pay and select a time that suits you.

Troubleshooting

Are you pulling your hair out over something? Perhaps you haven't had a good night's sleep in years and feel like a zombie most of the time? It could be that life with your toddler feels like a never ending battle over every little thing, or you seem to walk on eggshells wondering when the next tantrum will hit? Or maybe your little one is an angel until dinner time but getting them to eat anything green seems totally impossible?

Whatever battle you face, you are worried about the effect on your child, physically and emotionally. This problem is weighing on your mind and you can't relax and have fun so you don't enjoy life as a mum very much right now. It's even impacting your relationship, since it's all you ever talk about, and distracting you when you should be doing other things. You need to get it sorted out, for everyone's sake! You might even wish a fairy godmother could just wave a wand and take it all away.

I can help you!

People sometimes ask if I can just move in and "fix it." It is possible for me to do that, and if you feel you need a lot of support then I am more than happy to discuss the possibility (contact me to discuss your needs further) That is not how I work most often though. You see, if I just swoop in and change things you may find that the change doesn't last. In a few weeks or months your child may revert back to old behaviours, because they are ill, or out of the usual routine, or just testing you. And you wont know how to react. If I made all the changes for you, you wont have learnt the skills you need to maintain those changes long term.

What I prefer to do, and find so much more effective, is to guide parents through the process of making changes for themselves. After all, I know you can be a fabulous parent - you don't need me or anyone else to take that out of your hands. So I will work with you to show you how to create the changes you want to see, and you will have learnt parenting tricks and techniques that you can use for years to come.

First of all I will get to know you and your little one. I will listen to your concerns and discover everything I can about the current situation. Then I will come up with a plan, totally personalised for your child and your family. I will explain it to you, be right here for support while you put it into practice and if you run into any difficulties we can even write a new plan!

Silver

The silver package is good as a budget option, or if you have a fairly straightforward problem and just want a few tips. A half hour consultation is usually long enough to explain the main points of your plan and you will have free support for the first week to make sure you understand the plan and get you started.

Gold

This is my most popular package. A full hour's consultation gives you lots of time to discuss your concerns and go over all the different aspects of your plan in detail. You will then be able to turn to me for support for four weeks. Depending on your situation and the approach used that could be long enough for you to see success, but it should certainly see you well on your way. Parents tell me that they find it so reassuring to know they can turn to me at any time, let me know how things are going or ask if they are doing it "right."

Platinum

If you are really struggling with a more complex problem then the platinum package might be for you. This package includes a second diary analysis, consultation and even a whole new plan, meaning that we can assess the progress you have made and ensure that things continue as you want them to. With a full eight weeks of support you will never feel like you are on your own and most clients will see success before we're finished.
